Ca' del Bosco, "Cuvée Prestige", NV Champagne has a rival-- the Italian sparkling wine zone Franciacorta. Not merely post-obit, but enforcing even stricter laws than Champagne, Franciacorta proves itself an apt competitor in the contest of the globe's greatest sparkling wines. Using Pinot Nero, Pinot Bianco, and Chardonnay, the region remains relatively obscure, awarding its followers with not bad value. Ca' del Bosco has been a leader in Franciacorta production and consistently represents quality and pride for these great Lombardian wines. 98

Pinot Blanc, R. Sinskey, Los Carneros, 2015 Dr. Robert Sinskey founded his winery in Napa Valley in 1988 with a vision to make balanced wines intended to pair well with cuisine. Sinskey reminisces that wine civilization at the fourth dimension felt more similar a competitive sport where bigger is always improve, and high scores from critics drove the American wine market. Pinot Blanc (or Pinot Bianco to our Italian bretheren), is a grape that is best appreciated for its subtleties, different its more than broad-shouldered "competitor", oaked California Chardonnay. Sinskey proudly produces this limited characterization but releasing the Pinot Blanc in one-half bottles and magnums because, in his own words, "You lot should either commencement with information technology or political party with it!" 59

Langhe, Paolo Scavino, "Sorriso", 2020 Recently named a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its vineyard landscape, the Langhe region of Piedmont is one of the near favorable places for growing vines in the world. Met with the grandeur of endless folding hillsides planted predominantly to indigenous grapes, it's tempting for 1 to imagine about Any grape diverseness's potential to thrive there. "Sorriso" is a unique alloy of international grape varieties not typical for the region. While traditionalists may argue that only local grapes fully express the sacred terroir of the Langhe, Scavino saw the potential to expand the magic of Piedmont by this beautifully fresh and vibrant expression of Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Viognier. Featured Falanghina
Trabucco, 2020 Falanghina was once a dominant grape name in restaurants around the country. Every bit need grew, so did supply until quality dropped forcing the wine out of popularity. In the mineral driven soils at the base of operations of Monte Massico, the legacy of Nicola Trabucco's winemaking--now carried on and congenital upon past his son--reminds us how the wine became popular initially: intense, citrusy flavors with great body and balance showcasing the grape in all its celebrity. 59

Featured Vermentino
Ryme, "Hers", Los Carneros, 2020 Ryme Cellars is a collaboration between husband and wife Ryan and Megan Glaab, whose passion for the distinctive character of Italian wines married with the sunny slopes of Northern California set them apart from a sea of Cab and Pinot producers. With a chief focus on Italian grapes, they strongly believe that a grape multifariousness's popularity does not define its nobility. Vermentino, a vino of tragically untapped potential, is masterfully displayed in "Hers", where athwart meets circular, in a mouthwatering array of bright and briny layers of soft fruits. 88

Giuseppi Quintarelli, Bianco Secco Ca del Merlo 2016 Though Giuseppi Quintarelli gained his fame with his blood-red wines, especially his iconic Amarone, the estate as well crafts a beautiful white, evocative of the Veneto. Bianco Secco is a seductive alloy of Garganega, Trebbiano Toscana, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Saorin derinving from 30 year erstwhile vines grown in mineral rich soils. Combining a rounded texture and lifted aromatics, this is a perfect white wine to use as an aperitif on its ain or paired with our Frito Misto and Roman-Way Artichokes. Michele Chiarlo, "Tortoniano", 2016 Whether you're a vintner, enologist, sommelier, or just a lover of fine vino, all would agree that Barolo stands among the nigh aristocracy wines of the earth. Just equally Burgundy lovers forever contend the nuances of Vosne-Romanée versus, say, Gevrey-Chambertin, Barolo enthusiasts of today discuss structural differences and aromatic distinctions found in each of Barolo'due south unique subzones. To the westward, in the communes of Barolo and La Morra, Michele Chiarlo produces this wine from Tortonian soils (as you might have guessed), comprised of more dirt and limestone, resulting in an elegant and refined style. 139

Broglio, Schiavenza, 2014 The Schiavenza winery was started in 1956 by brothers Vittorio and Ugo Alessandria in the heart of the Serralunga d'Alba district. The estate and surrounding vines were traditionally worked by sharecroppers, and thus the winery was named Schiavenza later on the local dialect for sharecropper. The Broglio cru is by and large regarded as a vigorous plot, sitting at 360m with south-e exposure and a larger corporeality of clay in the superlative soil. This yields a vino of wonderful balance and power, and i that can be consumed at a younger age, but also has incredible aging potential. We're communicable this wine somewhere in betwixt with the 2014 vintage--enough historic period to soften the tannins, just immature enough to allow the wine to evolve in the drinking glass. 163

Barbaresco
Featured Barbaresco Casot
Giuseppe Nada, 2016 In the southern slopes of Barbaresco sits the small district of Treiso, domicile to the Giuseppe Null winery. The Nada family settled in the locality of Casot in 1900, merely it wasn't until the mid-'60s that the family unit began to bottle under the Nada label, unearthing great potential in the hills east of Alba. The resulting wines are powerfully structured and full-bodied with an emphasis on elegant textures and expressive aromatics. 109

The Wines of Angelo Gaja
Featured Gaja One-half Bottle
Barbaresco, Gaja, 2011 Angelo Gaja is the man credited for bringing the pocket-sized commune of Barbaresco out of obscurity. His influence has changed the way the world views Italian vino to this day. A master of Nebbiolo--the austere, tannic grape one time considered only quaffable afterwards decades of canteen age. Angelo saw its potential as a earth form wine. Despite pushback from his peers, he employed new (and what most considered outlandish) practices both in the vineyard and the winery to promote freshness and elegance in his wine. 375mL 289

Chianti
Featured Chianti Colli Senesi
Panizzi, 2018 Chianti has always been centered between Florence and Sienna, and this wine comes from the subzone around the hills of the latter or "Colli Senesi". Situated outside of the walled urban center of San Gimignano, Colli Senesi is perhaps the most renowned Chianti sub-region outside of Classico. The wine is reminiscent of great Chianti in that information technology has depth, character, and circuitous tasting notes; even so information technology is outgoing and integrates well into the unabridged dining experience. 58

Brunello di Montalcino
Featured Brunello di Montalcino
San Giorgio, "Ugolforte", 2016 "Classic" Brunello di Montalcino is getting harder to ascertain. New producers, French barrels, growing disparity betwixt the Due north and Due south of the appellation all have atomic number 82 to myriad styles. The vineyards of San Giorgio, in the south-eastern village of Castelnuovo dell'Abate, were planted as early as 1982, but the manor was recently acquired and is now cultivated by the famed Montalcino house, Poggio di Sotto, who are traditionalists to the core. While Brunello styles may differ, the respect for the vintage is paramount among all estates. The wine serves anecdotally to show the power of naturally growing Tuscany's greatest grape in its purest form. 167

Caprili, 2012 Brunello di Montalcino has risen to be the premier interpretation of Tuscan Sangiovese. At the Riserva level, it ranks among some of the highest aging requirements of whatsoever other table wine in the world. By law, it may non be released until the 6th year following harvest, and is mandated to mature in oak for a minimum of two years. Total in body, a Riserva designated Brunello expresses all the traditional flavors one expects from the varietal with an emphasis on blackness ruby, chocolate notes, and a dark earthiness. The resulting wine is a more than pronounced, luxurious bottling that only the town of Montalcino tin can provide. 319

The term "Super Tuscan" was coined by American journalists who welcomed these fuller-bodied, more polished Tuscan reds to the market. At a time when a majority of Tuscan wines were synonymous with thin, mediocre table wine, a few restless vintners set out to challenge the status quo. The wines were enthusiastically received by critics and ultimately led to a wine quality renaissance in Tuscany that has been on the ascent ever since! The first bottle associated with the move was Tenuta San Guido's 1968 "Sassicaia", vinified from Cabernet grapes on the Tuscan coast of Bolgheri. On the moving ridge of their uncle Mario's overnight success with Sassicaia, nephews Piero and Lodovico Antinori adopted their own unique style with the release of Tignanello, Solaia, and Ornellaia. We proudly offering a library of these world class wines from our cellar, many of which just a handful of bottles still exist.

Featured Valpolicella Ripasso Superiore
Valpolicella Ripasso Classico Superiore, Buglioni, "Il Bugiardo", 2018 "If this is non Amarone, then it is a lying vino!" This was the assertion of an experienced sommelier when he tasted Buglioni's first Ripasso wine in 2000. This incident gave birth to the name of this vino,"Il Bugiardo", which translates to "The Liar". This Ripasso procedure involves blending vino from partially stale grapes, and freshly vinified wine that has been "re-passed" over the leftovers from the product of Amarone. It creates a vino that is reminiscent of Amarone, just with a little more drinkability. 69

Veneto Reds of Quintarelli & Dal Forno
Featured Producers
Quintarelli vs. Dal Forno. DRC vs. Leroy...Lafite vs. Latour...Conterno vs. Gaja... the vino geek's equivalent to a political fence (notwithstanding a little BS) in a quest for the unmarried greatest expression of a particular wine. In Valpolicella, two producers indisputably reign at the top of the quality pyramid: Quintarelli and Dal Forno. Both producers commit maniacal attention to fruit option, sorting down to the individual drupe if necessary to attain the best extraction of flavor possible. Quintarelli's genius in the cellar is carried out through more traditional methods of èlevage, while Dal Forno boasts one of the well-nigh technologically advanced wineries in the earth. Preference in the resulting wines can be polarizing depending on the taster, only the quality of both is unquestionable. Where Quintarelli masterfully draws elegance and otherworldly aromas out of his Amarones, Dal Forno excels in achieving depths of concentration winemakers in Napa only dream about.

Featured Aglianico Campania
San Salvatore, "Ceraso", 2019 Campania, the "shin" of the kicking, is a region rich with culture and history. From the metropolitan urban center of Naples and the Amalfi Coast, to the Cilento eastward Vallo di Diano National Park, wherein yous'd detect ruins of Ancient Greek temples from the 500's BCE. Inside this vast park also sits the San Salvatore winery, established in 1988. Focusing on organic and biodynamic cultivation of Aglianico, Campania's virtually widely planted grape, San Salvatore has go a name synonymous with quality at a bang-up value. For generations before that, and withal today, the family has farmed buffalo, bred to produce the famed Mozzarella di Bufala Campania, maybe the most famous mozzarella in the world. Of course, a buffalo graces their label, and their slogan reads in part: "I've seen a buffalo through the grapevines, and I've drank vino". Straightforward and to the indicate, non dissimilar this wine. 77

Contini, "Inu", 2016 Sardinia is among the 5 "Blue Zones" of the earth, a term referring to areas with the largest concentration of centenarians. Cannanou (the Sardinian variant of Grenache) is incredibly anti-oxidant rich, and locals consume two glasses a day on boilerplate, undeniably contributing to their longevity. The Contini family unit, as well, has been at it for over 100 years, now in its 4th generation of family propriety. So please enjoy this beautifully dark and brooding wine, it may just tack a year or two onto your life expectancy. 72

It'southward a moment that inspires appreciation and wonder, and is often how you lot can decide which horse to put your money on. Featured Valdeguié Blend
Cruse, "Monkey Jacket", North Coast, 2019 Michael Cruse prides himself on making wines that he describes every bit "unabashedly Californian and inherently delicious". Native to Northern California, he started Cruse afterward years in the manufacture and notably creating a Champagne-inspired Sparkler called Ultramarine, using Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from the legendary Charles Heintz vineyard. Super cool. For his eponymous label, he opted confronting the usual suspects as information technology pertains to California wine, choosing instead to cultivate bottom known international varieties such as Valdeguié, Tannat, Carignan, and St Laurent, all farmed organically. Monkey Jacket is the flagship bottling of Cruse, with Valdeguié leading the way in this unique blend. Though the grapes are obscure, the flavors in the drinking glass are somehow familiar; brightness of fruit, singled-out earthiness, and generous structure. 79

Featured Vin Santo del Chianti
Donatella Cinelli Colombini, 2007 Literally translated "Holy Wine", Vin Santo has a rich history dating back to the heart of the Renaissance era. Using the unique passito method, grapes are dried out on harbinger mats to concentrate sugars and amplify complication. Legend has it that a 14th century friar once used leftover Vin Santo from Mass to heal the sick. We're not guaranteeing a miracle, merely might advise that a glass of this 'enlightened spirit' can cure what ails you 500ml 176
